The Kims

Back to presenters
Master Charles Kim grew up in South Korea. Born into a family of meditators, he began sitting in on his parents’ morning meditation as a young boy and has made Peace Breathing Meditation the foundation of his life. His father was a respected Traditional Taekwondo Grand Master who taught that martial art was a dynamic practice of peace. Grand Master Kim was the first of his era to bring the disciplines of yoga and meditation into martial art training and was the founder of the Peace Breathing method.

Master Kim diligently trained under his father’s system and has been teaching for nearly five decades. Master Kim worked side by side with his father and as a teen in 1972, helped set up The Peace School in Chicago as a non-profit, educational organization. He took over as president of the organization upon his father’s passing in 1999. He is the author of the book, Peace Breathing: Lessons on Achieving Peace in Everyday Life.
Jennifer Kim joined The Peace School as a student in 1978, the same year the organization founded Peace Day in Chicago.  She quickly became a volunteer, entered instructor training and began teaching a few years later. Jennifer benefitted from nearly two decades of one-on-one training and dialogue with the School's founder, Grand Master Kim. She now serves as director of The Peace School. Jennifer conducts many of the School’s offsite stress reduction workshops for corporations, schools and community groups and regularly teaches Peace Breathing and Peace Yoga classes at The Peace School.

The Kim’s married in 1994 and feel blessed to be working together for peace
